Android app
Grand Pianomator: Stepwise piano

(2.07 10-2025)
This is normally a paid app (priced at $5). However, since Google makes it hard to buy, it's now free for everyone. Those who wish to can still thank the author directly.
This app was created for Pianomator users who wanted to learn full, non-simplified songs.
Please don't expect this to be a full piano simulator. There are simply too many keys for the screen space. Think of it as an interactive tutorial. It's like a video lesson, but more powerful: move step-by-step, toggle left/right hand parts, switch between different notation views, and use other helpful options.
Each manufacturer uses their own audio processing, which encodes, decodes, and "optimizes" the sound, often ruining it in the process. The tools Google provides make it nearly impossible to achieve consistent, high-quality sound across all devices. In practice, only multi-platform or converted apps manage to bypass these limitations, while native Android apps like this one are left at the system's mercy. This is a long-standing issue that Google has largely ignored, misleading developers for years.
The right-hand part is marked in green. The bass (left hand) is brown. You can practice them together or separately. And if you enable the "Remove unused keys" option, the app will show only the keys used in the part, the keyboard will scale to fit, and you can even play relatively comfortably right in the app.
There are 4 notation view modes: Vertical circles/tiles, Horizontal with circles, Horizontal with very basic note symbols. You can turn on the duration indicators. For the "Vertical with circles" mode, there are two ways to display measures: based on the number of notes, or evenly spaced.
Melody graph and chord lines can be enabled optionally.
There are simplification modes. You can remove the chords or transform the piece into a "one-finger" melody, similar to the classic Pianomator.
